It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
